Rupert Laity 1887 - 1917

Rupert Laity was born in 1887 to William John Osbourne Laity and Elizabeth (Smith) Laity, and had siblings Harold Laity, Sydney Thomas Laity, Dolly Laity, and Gordon Laity. He married Isabella Miller (Comb) Laity Ah Gee, and had children Alex Rupert William Laity and Colin Victor Donald Laity. Rupert Laity died at age 29 years old on September 20, 1917 at Polygon Wood in Belgium.

In everlasting and loving remembrance of my dear husband and our darling daddy, Lance Corporal Rupert Laity, D.C.M., who was killed in action in Belgium on 20th September, 1917, aged 30 years. Also my dear and only brother, Private W. R. Comb, killed in action in France on 31st July, 1916. Aged 34. The dearly loved uncle of Alex, Colin and Frankie.
