    Mona Baptiste was born to John Henry Baptiste (1898 - 1953 and Ruth A Romney (1901 - 1970). Both of her parents were born in Trinidad. She had four sisters, Renee "Rina", Barbara, Grace, and Madge. A woman of strength and courage with a beautiful voice, she moved to England at the age of 20.     Born in Trinidad and Tabago, Mona migrated to England in 1948. While living in England, she performed in France, Belgium, and Germany, where she was very popular. Mona later married in England, where she lived until her husband died in 1958. In 1972, she moved to Ireland, where she lived until she died at the age of 65. She is buried in Dublin under the name Mona Baptiste Morrison.

    Mona was a singer and actress. Her songs were in the genres of calypso and blues and she appeared in musical films such as "Dancing in the Sun" in 1954. Mona had a beautiful voice and you can enjoy her 1963 rendition of "Stormy Weather" on YouTube at Mona Baptiste - Stormy Weather.

    Mona married twice: First to Michael Carle (born 1911) who died in a car accident in 1958. They had one son, Marcel, who was five when Michael died. She then married Liam Morrison, who was from Ireland. After their marriage, Mona moved to Ireland.

I am Mona's second cousin once removed: Dominic Furlonge > William "Daddy" Furlonge > Olga Furlonge > Horace "Mike" Rosteing > Kevin P Rosteing. William and Annie were siblings, and Annie is Mona's maternal grandmother.
