Grandfather shoots grandson early Friday morning

The following appeared in the Pasadena Citizen on September 9th 2010 written by Kristina Salazar:
A 26-year-old man is dead after it was reported that it was his grandfather who shot him during the early morning hours of Sept. 10. The victim, Anthony Josiah Parsons, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Vance Mitchell, public information officer for the Pasadena Police Department, said that police received a call at about midnight from a resident in the 4400 block of Fox Meadow Lane who wanted to make a report that his grandson had supposedly stolen $60 from him.

When officers responded to the residence, the grandson who was accused had already left the residence. After taking the report, the officers left and at about 2 a.m., officers then received a phone call from a neighbor stating there had been a stabbing at the same address.

However, officers realized that the call for a stabbing was actually a shooting when they arrived at the residence and discovered Parsons was shot. The grandfather was detained and brought to the station to be interviewed in order to get his side of the story. Mitchell said the District Attorney has deferred charges to the grand jury for their review.
