    No, he wanted to serve in the military but was very hard of hearing due to a childhood accident, he fell out of a tree. Because of that hearing loss, he didn't qualify for the military
  • Professional Career

    He was a prize fighter in his youth then gead trainer at the Mac Levy Gym at the old Madison Square Garden. He owned his own gym in both Coney Island and on Riverside Drive Manhattan. During the war he painted ships in the Brooklyn Navy Yard and later as a house painter. He was exposed to many toxic chemicals a in those paints and environments. It's believed that's why he succumbed to Liver Cancer in 1966
