Abdi was an Ethiopian from the Oromo tribe and he was a pious Muslim. Abdi died praying salatul asr at masjid an-noor on the northside of Chicago. He was fasting and his vehicle was buried in snow, he walked ten or more city blocks in the snow. He started to pray and in his second rakkah said sami allahu liman hamidah (“Allah hears whoever praises Him”) than collapsed.Abdi migrated to America in the 1980’s. He was a loving father of 6, he was an electrician for the city of Chicago IBEW but most of all he was a god fearing man.
