Abe's father was Samuel Greenspan, born 1881. His mother was Eva Greenspan, also born 1881. He had siblings Fanny, Pauline, Blanche, Sophie, and Diana. In the 1925 NY census, father Sam and mother Eva said that they were born in Russia. Sam was a peddler and sister Blanche (age 15) was listed as a salesman (?). In the household in Brooklyn: Sam, 44, Eva, 44, Blanche, 15, Sophie, 13, Diane, 9, and Abe, 6. In the 1930 federal census, Abe was 10 and attending school. In the household in Brooklyn were Sam, Sophie, Diana, and Abraham (sic). Father Sam spoke Yiddish and English and immigrated in 1907. He was a peddler (he had a fruit cart).
