    Resident of This Locality for Many Years Passes Away at Waupaca Veterans Hospital Mrs. Adeline Axtell, for more than eighty years a resident of this locality, died at the Veterans hospital at the Chain o' Lakes near Waupaca on Saturday, May 5, 1934. She was 87 years, 4 months, and 14 days old at the time of her death. She was born in Littleton, New Hampshire on December 25, 1847, and came with her mother, Mrs. Sarah A. Smith, to Wisconsin when four years of age. Waushara County, Mrs. Axtell resided continuously in this locality until her death, living at either Ogdensburg or Manawa until two years ago, when failing health caused her to enter the hospital. Her marriage to Samuel E. Axtell occurred at Ogdensburg in 1871. Mr. Axtell died twelve years later, and Mrs. Axtell continued to make her home in Ogdensburg until about twenty years ago when she moved to Manawa. She lived here until 1932 and then went to Waupaca. Survivors include one daughter, Emma (Mrs. Chas Klein) of St Joseph, Mich., three sons, Albert H. of Minneapolis, Minn., Ernest C. of Martville, NY, and Manley P. of Amherst Jct., one brother H. C. Smith of Ogdensburg, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One daughter, Ellen, died in infancy. Mrs. Axtell was a member of the M.E. church and the Ladies Aid Society of this place, and of the Rebekah lodge at Ogdensburg. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Methodist Episcopal Church in Manawa, Rev. O. C. Dittes officiating. Interment was in Park cemetery at Ogdensburg beside her husband and infant daughter. Members of the Rebekah lodges of Ogdensburg and Manawa assisted in the services at the grave. Pall bearers were L. Scruton, L. Quimby, B.F. Strong, Fred Smith, Frank Smith, and Chas Ross. Among the relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Axtell of Minneapolis, Minn., E.C. Axtell of Martville, NY, Mrs. Chas Klein of St Joseph, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. M.P. Axtell of Amherst Jct., Mr. and Mrs. F.D. Axtell and Mrs. Arthur Axtell of Waupaca, Miss Delpha Wilde of Chicago, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Strong of Eagle River, Clarence Axtell and Mrs. E.C. Kurth of Fon du Lac, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith of Rhinelander, H.C. Smith of Ogdensburg.
