She had siblings Robert Henry Joughin, Sophia Joughin, Ellen Joughin, Walter Joughin, Daniel Frederick Joughin, John Kerrnish Joughin, Thomas Wade Joughin, William Joughin, Elizabeth Carlton Joughin, Daniel Frederick Joughin, and Francis Joughin. Agnes Joughin died at age 82 years old in December 1959 in Caulfield, City of Glen Eira County.

In 1877, in the year that Agnes Joughin was born, on July 14th, strikes and resulting riots began at the Baltimore and Ohio (B&O) Railroad. A sympathy strike and rioting began in Pittsburgh and a worker's rebellion began in St. Louis, then spread to other cities. 100 people were killed before the strikes ended when President Rutherford B. Hayes sent federal troops to each of the cities involved.

In 1896, Agnes was 19 years old when on August 17th, the first pedestrian v car fatality occurred in Great Britain. Bridget Driscoll, age 44, was walking with her family on the grounds of The Crystal Palace in London when she was hit by a car driven by Arthur James Edsall. Edsall claimed to be going 4.5 mph and Driscoll's death was ruled an "accidental death" after an inquest.
