He had siblings Annie Elizabeth Pelling, Alice Jane Pelling Newland, Marion Morrison Pelling, Lilian Amelia Pelling, and Stephen Alexander Pelling. He married Mary "Maria" Horsburgh, and had children Annie Pelling Quirk, Doris Mary Pelling, George Alan Pelling, Jack Pelling, Mollie Pelling Nagel, and Lillian Pelling. Alan Pelling died at age 75 years old on May 13, 1943 in Brunswick, City of Merri-bek County.
