Alan married Doris Randall on Sep 9th 1937, they had a son David William on January 5th 1939. Alan spent a long time in Changi Prison and his last letter home to his family was dated 7th Sep 1945 from Rangoon where he was waiting for transport home to the UK. Along with 40 other heroes the next day he died somewhere over Burma.
