He had three siblings named Alma Emma, Elsie L, and Otto G Netz, as well as half-siblings Gottlieb, Lydia, and Ida Edith Netz. Growing up, Albert lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and worked for The Milwaukee Journal Co during his twenties. However, his life took a different direction when he enlisted in the United States Army on March 27, 1941, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Initially enlisting as a Selectee (enlisted men) during a time when the military was rapidly expanding in preparation for World War II, Albert held the rank of Private. He likely underwent basic training to learn military skills and physical fitness. During his time in the Army, Albert's dedication and hard work led to promotions and he eventually achieved the rank of 1st Sergeant. He served from March 27, 1941, to January 2, 1946, during which time he may have seen combat and participated in various military campaigns. In his personal life, Albert was married to Marie Dorothy Garritano and later Emma Zerbe (1919-2009). He had multiple children, including a son named Brian Allen Netz (1954-2016).
