Albert Buck Hibbert Sr. of Winthrop, Saint Lawrence County, NY was born on March 5, 1918 to Frances "Opal" Buck Hibbert and Albert John Hibbert. He had siblings John Alan Hibbert, William Cornelius Hibbert, Nathan "James" Hibbert, Marilyn Hibbert, Barbara Ann Hibbert, and Virginia Mae Hibbert. He married Alda Hazel Cline Hibbert, and had children Albert Buck Hibbert, Jr, William Cline Hibbert, Helen Elizabeth Hibbert, Bruce Davis Hibbert, and Linda Joan Hibbert. Albert Hibbert died at age 82 years old on May 22, 2000, and was buried circa May 27, 2000.

In 1944, by the time he was 26 years old, on June 6th, the largest amphibious invasion in history was launched - the Normandy landing (called D-Day). Soldiers from the United States, Britain, Canada, and the Free French landed on Normandy Beach and were later joined by Poland, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Greece, and the Netherlands. Almost 5,000 landing and assault craft, 289 escort vessels, and 277 minesweepers were involved. Nearly 160,000 troops crossed the English Channel on D-Day - Allied casualties on the first day were at least 10,000. 4,414 were confirmed dead.
