Albert Creevey was born in 1888 to John Creevey and Annie (Collins) Creevey, and had siblings John Creevey and William Denis Creevey. He married Elizabeth May (Bracken) Creevey Mather, and had children Albert John Creevey and May Ellen (Creevey) Richards. Albert Creevey died at age 44 years old on November 23, 1933 at St. Vincent's Public Hospital Melbourne 41 Victoria Parade, in Fitzroy, City of Yarra County, VIC Australia, and was buried at Box Hill Cemetery 395 Middleborough Rd, in Box Hill, Whitehorse City County.

CREEVEY. - On the 23rd November, at St. Vincent's Hospital, Eastern Hill, Albert Creevey ( Station Officer, Fire Station, Hoddle Street, Abbotsford ), dearly beloved husband of Elizabeth May, and loving father of Albert and May. Aged 45 years. R.I.P. The Herald, Melbourne. 25th November 1933. CREEVEY. - A fond tribute to our sincere friend, Bert, beloved husband of our Association mate, May ( nee Bracken ) who passed away November 23rd, 1933. - Inserted by the Pioneer Victorian Ladies Cricket Association.

In 1888, in the year that Albert Creevey was born, Irishman John Robert Gregg published a pamphlet in the U.S., teaching his first version of shorthand - Gregg shorthand. When he improved on the first version and published it 5 years later, Gregg shorthand became popular.

In 1898, by the time he was only 10 years old, on February 15th, the USS Maine exploded and sank in Havana harbor. The reason for the explosion has never been found, but it killed 266 men. "Remember the Maine" became a rallying cry and precipitated the United States' declaration of war on Spain two months later - the beginning of the Spanish-American War. On December 10th, the war ended with the signing of the Treaty of Paris. The Treaty gave the U.S. Puerto Rico, the Philippines, Guam - for $20 million - and, temporarily, Cuba.
