Albert Ericson was the son of Eric Ericson and Justine Johnson. He had eight brothers and two sisters. Albert started life on a farm near Stromsburg Nebraska. The farm was quite productive since none of the nine children that they had at the time were ever in need of food. They grew potatoes, corn, hay, wheat, and oat. Erik Ericson increased his capital by speculating in the buying and selling of land. In 1902the Ericson family moved into an 11 room house in the town of Stromsburg, however Eric still owned the farm. Eric purchased a hardware store along with his partner Mr. Edberg. Ericson and Edburgs’ hardware store prospered and in 1909 furniture store was added.

The public school system in Stromsburg Nebraska was an improvement over the more common one room country schools. Albert Ericson the ninth Ericson child graduated from public high school in 1915 in a graduating class of 26. Albert Ericson received a degree in electrical engineering in 1922 from the University of Colorado which was within walking distance of his father’s retirement home in Boulder Colorado.
