He had siblings Emily Melvina Thurrowgood, Caroline Thurrowgood Shirley, Edwin Charles Thurrowgood, Ada Miriam Thurrowgood, Emily Melvina (Thurrowgood) Hill, Alfred Ernest Thurrowgood, Frederick William Thurrowgood, Arthur Ebenezer Thurrowgood, George Walter Thurrowgood, Cecil Thomas Thurrowgood, and Alfred Leonard Thurrowgood. He married Una Blanche Saunders in 1905, and had a child Stanley Albert Thurrowgood. Albert Thurrowgood died at age 30 years old on April 19, 1907 in Geelong.

In 1876, in the year that Albert Frank Thurrowgood was born, on February 14th, Alexander Graham Bell applied for a patent for the telephone. So did Elisha Gray. A month later, on March 7th, Bell was granted the patent and on the 10th, he made his first successful telephone call - in which he said: "Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you."

In 1884, at the age of merely 8 years old, Albert was alive when on December 6th, the Washington Monument was completed. Building began in 1848 but was stopped because of lack of funds and also due to the Civil War. It would be dedicated in 1885. At the time of its completion, it was the tallest structure in the world.
