He had siblings Electa Ida Spaht (1894-1988), Elsie Katherine Spaht (1896-1985), Eddie Vincil Spaht (1898-1970), Eda Arminta Spaht (1903-1971), and Jeannette Cleva Spaht (1905-2002). He grew up and resided in Louisburg, Montgomery, Kansas, USA. He later moved to Phoenix, Maricopa, Arizona, USA in the 1930's. He worked in the industry of social and welfare workers. On November 7, 1931 he married Mary Ella Lewis (1914–1973). They had a son together, William Theodore Spaht (1932-2006). The couple later moved to Kansas City, Missouri and then to Bunkie, Avoyelles, Louisiana, USA. On April 4, 1941, after ten years of marriage, Albert and Mary divorced.
