    Albert Grabsky was born to Paul Grabsky (1895 - 1933), born in Poland, and Rose Langweil (born 1901). He had two brothers, one of whom was Bertram Grabsky (1929 - 2006). A veteran of World War II, Albert enlisted on September 27, 1943 and was discharged on August 15, 1945. Albert never married and didn't have children. Born in New York City, Albert was raised in Brooklyn, New York. When he was 18, he moved to Portland, Oregon, with his ship and then he moved back to New York City until the age of 73, when he moved to Richardson, Dallas County, Texas.

In 1926, in the year that Albert Grabsky was born, on October 31st, Harry Houdini died in Michigan. Houdini was the most famed magician of his time and perhaps of all time, especially for his acts involving escapes - from handcuffs, straitjackets, chains, ropes slung from skyscrapers, and more. He was president of the Society of American Magicians and stringently upheld professional ethics. He died of complications from a ruptured appendix. Although he had received a blow to the area a couple of days previously, the connection between the blow and his appendicitis is disputed.
