Motion Picture Producer. Born in Queens, New York, he was a film producer who made more than 40 motion pictures throughout his career. Working for Pinewood Studios, most of his films were made in the United Kingdom. He was most noted for producing many of the original James Bond movies such as "Dr. No" (1962), "From Russia with Love" (1963), "Goldfinger" (1964), "Thunderball" (1965), "You Only Live Twice" (1967), "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" (1969), "Diamonds are Forever" (1971), "Live and Let Die" (1973), "The Man with the Golden Gun" (1974) and many more. Additionally, he produced the classic musical fantasy film, "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" (1968). For his work on the James Bond films, he was honored with the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award at the 1982 Academy Awards and he has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He died at age 87 of heart failure at his home in Beverly Hills, California.
