  • Introduction

He married his first cousin, Maria Elisabetha Schmich on January 3, 1843 in Dossenheim. He lived with his family in America from about 1847 to about 1855. They had five known children. He appears as head of household in Marion, Livingston County, Michigan in 1850; what happened to him afterwards is a complete mystery! If he died in Livingston County, Michigan, then it would likely have occurred in 1855/56 because this is when his wife remarried; however, he may have opted to return to Germany at that time.
