    Albert Adam Zimanski was born to Adam Frank Zimanski, also spelled Zimnoch, (1897 - 1970) and Sarah C. Jagelski (1902 - 1984). His father was born in Poland and his mother was born in Russia. He had sister Constance Helen Zimanski (1926 - 1984). Albert first married Lillian Pearl Hite (1922 - 1976) on April 11, 1942, in Dearborn Michigan. They had a daughter. He married again, to Velma Jean Compton, on January 10, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan. They had five children, including Mark James (1959 - 2004). A veteran of World War II, Adam joined the United States Navy on May 10, 1944 and was discharged on February 20, 1946.
