Alean Barringer Detter, 82, of Newton, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2005 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.
Born on September 29, 1923 in Catawba, she was the daughter of the late Noah Pinkney Barringer and Cordia Abernathy Barringer. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Newton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Detter one daughter, Doris D. Sigmon; one grandson, Robert Wayne Detter; two brothers, Henry Barringer and Harry Barringer; and two sisters, Kate David and Rose Henley.
Survivors include one son, Henry Detter & wife, Frankie of Maiden, NC; two daughters, Martha Brendle & husband, Robert of Charlotte and Carolyn Lamb & husband, Joey of Conover; one son-in-law, L. Ray Sigmon of Catawba, NC; two brothers, Joe Barringer of Conover and Eddie Max Barringer of Chattanooga, TN; one sister, Nancy Burke of Newton; five grand-children, Angela Detter, Mellonee Small & husband, Johnny, Joshua Lamb & wife, Rachel, Zachary lamb, and Nicholas Brendle; and three great grandchildren, Brittany Taylor, Jackson Lamb, and Jacob Lamb.
The funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at Friendship United Methodist Church. The Revs. Brad Thie and Eric Morphis officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church, 2900 South NC Hwy 16, Newton, NC 28658.
