He had siblings Walter Wallace Grascoine, Robert James Guascoine, Alfred Duncan Cyril Guascoine, Alfred Duncan Cyril Guascoine, Alfred Duncan Cyril Guascoine, Mary Francis Guascoine, Catherine May Guascoine, William John Andrew (Jack) Guascoine, Walter Wallace Guascoine, Thomas Henry Guascoine, George Albert Joseph (Joe) Guascoine, Robert (Bob) James Guascoine, and Alexander Edward Guascoine. He married Maisie Joyce Foster, and had children Douglas John Guascoine and Jennifer Jane Guascoine. Alex Guascoine died at age 92 years old on August 8, 2006 in Echuca, VIC.

In 1913, in the year that Alex Edward Guascoine was born, Henry Ford installed the first moving assembly line for the mass production of an entire automobile. It had previously taken 12 hours to assemble a whole vehicle - now it took only two hours and 30 minutes! Inspired by the production lines at flour mills, breweries, canneries and industrial bakeries, along with the disassembly of animal carcasses in Chicago’s meat-packing plants, Ford created moving belts for parts and the assembly line was born.
