He had siblings James Hood, William Hood, Marion Hood, Samuel Hood, and Elizabeth Hood. He married Emily Jope Hood, and had children James Alexander Hood, Doris Evelyn Mary Hood, Lorna Emily Hood, John Donaldson Hood, Irene Beatrice Jean Hood, and Heather Adele Hood. Alexander Hood died at age 80 years old in 1955 in Bendigo Australia.

In 1875, in the year that Alexander Hood was born, on February 18th, the Mason County War, also called the Hoodoo War, began. In central Texas, a German-American mob broke into a jail with a battering ram and lynched two suspected cattle rustlers. Thus began a year of vigilante "justice."
Did you know?
In 1886, Alexander was just 11 years old when on June 13th, the "Great Vancouver Fire" destroyed most of Vancouver, British Columbia. A small brush fire got out of control and spread to the rest of the city. Dozens of people died and it was only after the fire that money was raised for a fire hall. The local Squamish tribe rescued people who had jumped into bodies of water to escape the conflagration.
