He was my mother's grandfather who was born in NYC as a first generation American whose parents were listed in the Census as being from, Germany, Austria, Bohemia and Poland. I recently found he had nine brothers and sisters. He became a Tailor and married a fiery red haired Irish/ Scottish Catholic woman named Sarah McGarrigle who rumor has it was threatened with excommunication by her local priest for marrying a Jewish man. They opened a fine linens laundry and tailor shop. They had one son born 1899 named Edward and one daughter born 1/28/07 named Margaret Ella. Since my grandmother was only nine years old when he died her memories were that he was quiet, intelligent and generous. She and her brother Eddy called him "Pop". My grandmother was raised Catholic and went to Catholic school and her brother Eddy went to public school and took off on all the Jewish holidays. Sarah McGarrigle Solesky died July 17, 1959 and never remarried. I wish I knew more but it is all I know besides the fact that he died of "complications" (of what no one seemed to know) in November of 1916. WOULD LOVE TO KNOW ANYTHING ELSE. I'VE NEVER EVEN SEEN HIS PICTURE. THANK YOU.
