    Alfonso Paredes Santos was born on October 12, 1938 in Hayden Gila, Arizona to Victoria Paredes (1892-1939) and Luis B Roman Santos Jr. (18880-1972). He had 23 siblings including Pedro Santos (1904-?), Guadalupe Lupe Santos (1904-?),Margarita Rita "Maggie" Santos (1911-1980), Maria Louise Santos (1913-1994), Lydia Paredes Santos (1916-1999), Hortensia Paredes Santos (1919-?), Armida "Mita" Paredes Santos (1919-1976), Catalina Santos (1920-2000), Louis Paredes Santos (1922-2004), Julia Santos (1923-2014), Rebecca Paredes Santos (1926-2007), Arnoldo "Bunny" Paredes Santos (1928-2021), and Jose "Joe" Paredes Santos (1931-2018). His mother died one year after Alfonso was born. On March 29, 1959 he married Mary Jane Burney in Yuma, Arizona and two years later joined the military on December 10, 1961. He was father to two children, David L. Santos and Felicia Roseann Jeffery. Al is described as a man representing great virtue, caring, kindness, and a unique sense of humor and that his belief in eternal life and families lasting forever guided his actions on this earth. Alfonso Paredes Santos passed away on Dec 29, 2002 in Tucson, Arizona and is buried at the Holy Hope Cemetery and Mausoleum in Tucson.

    Published Wed Jan 1, 2003 in the Tucson Citizen (Tucson, Arizona): Alfonso P. Santos passed away on December 29, 2002. He is survived by his wife Mary Jane Santos; son David L. (Xochiti) Santos Sr.; daughter Felicia Roseann (Ralph) Jeffery; grandchildren, David, Alyssa, Nicole, Aaron, Brennan, Jordan, and Mariah; and many other loving family members. Following his education in pharmacy at the University of Arizona, Al chose to enter the field of real estate and insurance. Al was a man representing great virtue, caring, kindness, and a unique sense of humor. His belief in eternal life and families lasting forever guided his actions on this earth. He will be greatly missed and eternally loved. Special thanks to the transplant division of UMC and the personnel in St. Mary's Hospice Unit, where he was cared for in his final days. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Casas Adobes Ward, 939 W. Chapala Drive on Thursday, January 2, 2003. Services conducted by Bishop Quinton Hurst will begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. The family encourages people to give the gift of life by becoming organ donors. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave.
