Alfred Gain died at age 40 years old on October 28, 1938 at Mount Dandenong - Shire of Lillydale, in County of Mornington County, Victoria.

Enlisting 22nd August, 1915, and sailing 20th December, arrived in France via Egypt ist March, 1916, and served till wounded at Pozieres 3rd August. On recovery was with coy. at Somme, Bullecourt, Ypres and elsewhere until demobilisation.
