My Uncle Al
Al Sleeman was my parents friend for many years before He became My Uncle AL when I married his Nephew John Nordyke on December 9 1967. I can say without a doubt there could not have been a finer man than He. He unfailing regarded everyone as his friend. If you already were not a friend you became one shortly. A fine Christian, he treated all his children Lewis , Madeliene, Robert, Richard. Donald and Judy equally. The first 2 were children of Mary. The last 4 from my Aunt Ruth but He was equally proud of each, no differentiation. And all of us nieces and nephews - we Were also loved 😍 We Always were welcome at Uncle AL and Aunt Ruth's house- didn't matter if it had been 2 days, months, or years- it was "Come On In!"
My husband had the honor of being a pallbearer at Uncle Al's burial along with some of his other adult nephews. My Johnny did not cry easily but he did then, for he realized the gap Al's death left in the world. As I write this it is 18 years this month since His Death & I still miss him. His Eldest Lewus Alfred joined him in Heaven just last month of July. Heaven is richer but we who knew them will forever feel the loss. Their niece and cousin KAREN(WEEKLEY) NORDYKE
