He had siblings Samuel Blackney, Emily Ann (Blackney) Quick, Alice Matilda (Blackney) Hawkins, Huldah Jane "Hilda" Blackney, Mary Blackney, Thomas Frederick Blackney, Ellen Inglis, Joseph Blackney, William Henry Blackney, and John Ernest Blackney. He married Jane Ann (Comerford) Blackney in 1896, and had children Maria Teresa Sarah Rebecca Blackney, James Charles Blackney, Alfred Harry Richard Blackney, George Frederick Blackney, Eunice Frances Blackney, Richard James Blackney, Annie Josephine Blackney, and Joyce Valma Blackney. Alfred Blackney died at age 93 years old on September 8, 1956 in Cootamundra, Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council County, NSW.
