    He Boarded the Lusitania with his mother Beatrice and his grandmother as 1st class. Beatrice survived the sinking. But Alfred and his grandmother ended up lost during the time when the two explosions came on the ship and the when the ship went down. Alfred's body was recovered and buried in a private grave in Cobh, County Cork Ireland.

Alfred boarded Lusitania as saloon (1st class) with his mother Beatrix and maternal grandmother. On May 7, 1915 the ship was struck by a torpedo from a German submarine off the coast of Ireland and sank in 18 minutes at 2:10 pm. Alfred sadly perished in the sinking with his grandmother and only his mother survived. She never talked about the sinking of the Lusitania ever since but did state that she held on to her son during the final moment.
