    Alice Ludolff nee Sullivan was born in Tasmania and was first married to James Alexander Pearce. She had several children to him before moving from Tasmania to Victoria and Sydney NSW. They were separated when she met Jean Max Ludolff who she lived with and had 3 children to him prior to her divorce from James Pearce. This is confirmed in newspaper reports showing the divorce. She had a sister named Sarah who married someone named Cummins or Cummings.

Alice Sullivan was born in Tasmania. Her parents were Thomas Sullivan and Anne Carton (Carten, Karten). Her parents were both convicts sent to Tasmania and sought permission to marry.More is written under the name 'Alice Sullivan'. Alice first married James Alexander Pearce in Tasmania then separated from him and lived with Jean Max Ludolff in Sydney . She had 3 children to Jean Max Ludolff whilst she was waiting for her divorce from James Pearce to come through. There are records of this in newspapers in Trove digital archives. She used the name Alice Ludolff when they ran a venue called the Scarborough Club in Sydney. They were charged with not holding a liquor licence at the time. Jean Max Ludolff married M. Leahy not long after her death. I've been told Alice Ludolff (Sullivan) was my grandmother.
