    Alice Maxine Dethrow, 83, of Dix died at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was born March 15, 1925, in Franklin County, to Elmus and Juanita Faye (Lowery) Isaacs. Both preceded her in death. She married Norman Lee Dethrow on Dec. 13, 1941. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1988. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Andrew Urshan officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery in Sesser. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Dethrow was preceded in death by two sons and two brothers. Survivors include two sons, Gerald Dethrow and wife Lynne of West Plains, Mo.; and Michael Dethrow and wife Kathy of Joliet; two daughters, Mary Mooney and husband Dwight of Dix and Denise Binzen of Joliet; 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brother Phillip Isaacs and wife Beth of St. Anne; and sisters Elaine Denny and husband Mike of New Douglas and Josephine Robey and husband Don of Benton. Mrs. Dethrow was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in West Plains, Mo. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
