    Alice was a very special woman who was loved by all that knew her. She had two Children Dolphus Gregory Jr. and Christine V. Gregory. She Lived in the family homestead for 85 of her 86 years. Raised her grand daughter Maria Hope Clark. She was loved by all of her grand daughters friends and seen as a surrogate grand mother to them as Well. She had 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandkids. Alice's first husband and father of her two Children was Dolphus L. Gregory. Her second husband was James Exum Aycock.

    WELDON -- Alice Hamill Gregory Aycock, 86, of 1338 Elm St., Weldon, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003. Mrs. Aycock was born in Halifax County, the daughter of the late Ellis Hamill and Helen Harlow Hamill. She was the widow of the late Dolphus L. Gregory Sr. and James Exum Aycock. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Lisa Marie Gregory; and three brothers, Walter Hamill, Oliver Hamill and Burley Hamill. She is survived by one daughter, Christine G. Smith and her husband, Robby, of Roanoke Rapids; one son, Dolphus L. Gregory Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Rocky Mount; one brother, Ralph Hamill and his wife, Hazel, of Weldon; and six grandchildren, Mary Alice Abernathy, Leslie Loraine Barnes, Maria Hope Grant, John Gregory, Dolphus Gregory III and Rhonda Winn. A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to The American Lung Association of NC Tar River Region, 224 Rose St., Rocky Mount NC. Askew Funeral Services is handling the arrangements.
