    Allen LeRoy Avery Allen LeRoy Avery, age 63, known as "Al" to family and friends, died peacefully on Monday, April 19, 2010, in his home in Dumfries, Virginia. Allen was a 14-year resident of Northern Virginia and long-time resident of San Diego, California. He was born in Mount Vernon, Washington on July 26, 1946, son of Donna Kolbe Rose. His father was Albert Avery, but stepfather Rex Rose raised him. Following high school, he served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, with a tour in Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he attended San Diego State University and pursued a degree in Elementary Education. Allen enjoyed working in his family's business, spending time with those he loved, and watching movies and sports; he was an avid San Diego Charger fan. Allen was a hardworking, devoted, caring person, with a great sense of humor, and he will be missed more than words can possibly express. His loving family includes his mother, Donna Rose of Vancouver, Washington; daughter, Allyson Avery and her husband, Bill Werneth of Woodbridge, Virginia and daughter, Laura A. Moore and her husband, James (JT) Moore of Woodbridge, Virginia; grandchildren, Christopher, Thomas, Matthew, Samuel, Jack and step-grandson, Jimmy. He is also survived by his brothers, Brian Rose of Temecula, California, Randy Rose of El Cajon, California, and Don Rose of Vancouver, Washington; and his former wife and friend, Jane Avery. A memorial service with military honors will be held at Quantico National Cemetery in Quantico, Virginia on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 1 p.m.
