He was married to Louannice Hinton, and they had a son Thomas. He was deacon of Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Grove. His family called him A.F. or Shucks. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren like they were his own. He had a good sense of humor and liked to tease. He enjoyed fishing. His great grand kids remember him for hours and hours of domino games.
