Alvin married Doris Jane Bruegi (1926 - 2002) in 1946. They had five daughters and one son and filed for divorce in 1949. He then married Margaret Hazel Dunlap Wood (1925 - 2004) on December 31st, 1999 in Hidalgo, Texas. Finally, Alvin married Ann Zinski, born 1930. His only recorded children were from his first marriage.
