Alvin Louis Obermoller, age 98, was born on December 20, 1923 on the family farm south of Brewster, MN. He was the son of Ludwig and Wilhelmina (Steffen) Obermoller. The family moved to Pipestone where Alvin attended school until the family moved back to Brewster around 1935. Alvin graduated as valedictorian from Brewster High School in 1941. He attended the University of Minnesota until enlisting in the Navy in 1942. He served in the Pacific Theater until he was honorably discharged in 1946. Alvin was united in marriage to Lucille Jensen on June 16, 1943, in Sioux Falls, SD. After their marriage, they made their home on the family farm outside of Brewster, MN, where they raised their five children. They farmed the land and bred Black Angus cattle. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN. Alvin served on the Brewster School Board, Nobles County Coop Oil Board, Ewington Township Board, American Legion, VFW, Trinity Lutheran Church Council, Brewster, First National Bank Board, Brewster Lumber Board, and Southwest Regional Development Board. He was also part of the first Southwest Minnesota Honor Flight to Washington DC. Alvin lived his last five years at the Ecumen Meadows in Worthington until Monday, July 25, 2022 when he was reunited with Lucille in heaven. He is survived by 4 children, Ruby Moore, Worthington, MN, James (Sandi) Obermoller, Round Lake, MN, Connie (Merle) Janssen, Worthington, MN, and Ronald (Karen) Obermoller, Brewster, MN; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, and 3 step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucille; one son, Robert Obermoller; son-in-law, Doyle Moore; two granddaughters, Angel and Angelia; and two siblings, Stanley Obermoller and Vera Mae Roberts. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN, and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor John Schuetz officiating. Alvin’s grandchildren, Dayle, Larry, Kristine, Travis, Bryan, Scott, Sara, Mark, Christopher, Carrie, Lee, Melissa, and Jonathan will serve as casket bearers. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery near Brewster, MN. Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
