    Alvin's father was Anton Czerniak (1883 - 1946), born in Poland. His mother was Pelagia Pauline Penkalsk (1889 - 1971), born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He had siblings Leo, Viola, Louis, Emily, and Alice. The Army listed Alvin's date of birth as "November 25, 1923". His death date is the same. In the 1940 federal census, Alvin was 16 and living with his parents, Pauline (50) and Anton (46), in Westboro Wisconsin. In the household was also brother Louis (260, Alvin was in his 2nd year of high school. Father Anton was a farmer and brother Louis was a laborer on the farm. Alvin's World War II draft card registration, completed on June 30, 1942, in Cudahy, Wisconsin, said that his date of birth was Nov 25, 1923. He was living in St Fancis, Wisconsin, and unemployed. He was 6 feet tall, weighed 170 pounds, had a light complexion, brown eyes, blue eyes, and a scar on his left hand. His next of kin was Pauline Czerniak, his mother. Alvin was a veteran of World War II. He was in the Army, enlisting as a private.
