Alys Mary Lorraine (Weston) Wheelhouse of Bendigo, Greater Bendigo City County, VIC Australia was born in 1919 in Wedderburn, Loddon Shire County to Albert Weston and Christina Isabel (Robertson) Weston. She had a brother Albert Roy Weston. She married Charles Thomas Wheelhouse in 1937, and had a child Raymond Charles Wheelhouse. Alys Wheelhouse died at age 85 years old on June 19, 2005 in Bendigo, Greater Bendigo City County.

In most cases, African-Americans were the victims. It was called the "Red Summer". Men who were returning from World War I needed jobs and there was competition for those jobs among the races. Tension was heightened by the use by many companies of blacks as strikebreakers.
