Sara Lobato:
My father worked there in the 1930s - My father, Emmanuel J. Lobato, was born in Alamosa. He tended cattle at 12 and when he was five he took care of one cow or bull that used to get lose. He earned $1 a month, and when it got lose he had to pay $1, which happened a number of times.
He worked at the hardware store when he was about 18 years old. He was born December 31, 1918, and his family came from Spain about 400-500 years earlier and married the Martinez family. I actually lived in Pueblo West years ago and a young man came to my door who looked like my nephew. I almost died. He was a Martinez.
The story I was told by my oldest brother who is 80 years old, said that my father worked very hard for Mr. Husung. Mr. Husung had hopes that one day my father would manage the store, but my father had higher dreams than staying in Alamosa.
He went to the Naval Academy, became a Lt. Commander, was in over 30 major battles, and 13 battle stars, and went on to become one of the top international attorneys in the world.
He visited Alamosa a number of times during and after the war. I have no idea if he visited the store and said hello to Mr. Husung, but since I do things like that and take after him in many ways, I would like to think that he did at least one time. He was written up in the local paper since he had many accomplishments in the navy.
I like to think that Mr. Husung most likely read about him.
F Stover:
Karen always strove to do good and liked to understand things on a very deep level. She was practical yet unconventional. Karen was a dedicated mother of 3 daughters, was a trained midwife, and had many interests including organic gardening and alternative health. Given everything, it seems she should have lived much longer. I will always miss her. F
Carolyn Davidson:
Patricia (PattiPooh) was my sweet baby sister! - I held baby Patti when she was born. I was 13 years old at the time. About eighteen months earlier my younger sister, Becky, had been born. The two of them were best buddies. I would sit on the floor and let the girls divide my hair in half and they each got to put in curlers, bows and barrettes. I looked so silly, but they were entertained while mom fixed dinner. Lol
Lisa Tomes:
Jesse Cornwell is my grandfather and I myself did not know him but his son Charles Edward Cornwell was my daddy and he told me some about him Jesse was married to Edith Francis Ammon and they had 3kis Jesse Francis Cornwell. Charles Edward Cornwell and Melvin Franklin Cornwell. Mrs Cornwell later to a Mr Martin and she passed away in Detroit Michigan if anyone knows of the family history I would really like to know thank you and God bless
Jo-Ann Wisniewski:
Memories - My grandmother 🥰:). German food…still the best I’ve ever had! Gram’s desserts… especially her raspberry turnovers and cinnamon/sugar swirls with leftover dough…chocolate chip cookies and rum balls at Christmas! Playing cards at night… and the song while getting our tea and treats ready…” I love coffee, I love tea… I love Jo-Ann and she loves me!”
🥰🙏🥰
Sharon Lieberman-Wallace:
He was my uncle - I didn't get to see Uncle Nat too often, he lived in California all my life. He had come to see us in Connecticut three of four times that I can remember. I know two of those times he had brought his youngest child, my cousin Jay with him.
Uncle Nat was my dad's oldest brother, and my dad somehow was the one who ended up being the one who took care of Uncle Nat many times during his life, before and after my grandparents had passed away
My dad and Uncle Nat had tried different types of business to own, whenever one was doing well, somehow, Uncle Nat had gotten into some kind of problems, so the business had to close,
A couple of years after my dad and Uncle Nat got out of the service, and closed the businesses in NYC, they ended up moving to Hartford, CT where my grandparents lived. My grandparents at that time had a small grocery store, but they were up there in age, and they were both very ill, so my dad and Uncle Nat took over working in the store.
Dad and Uncle Nat kept the store going until my grandparents had passed away a few years later. Uncle Nat didn't like being in Connecticut and ended up moving to California.
By this time my mom and dad had been married for five or six years and had two children (my two older brothers). and they stayed in CT. Dad stayed in contact with Uncle Nat and his family all of his lifetime. All of Uncle Nat's children thought of my dad as being there "second" dad and when Uncle Nat passed away, my dad was the one they all turned to for guidance and support. I think that Uncle Nat would have been very happy that his children looked up to dad just the way he did.
Thank you Uncle Nat, know that your family misses you, and will never forget about you. I hope that you are now with dad, grandma, grandpa and Aunt Birdie once again, and that you have all found a way to find the love that you should had here on earth.

Dana Poplees:
Relative? - I’m looking for my great grandfather’s siblings
Stephen Andrew Poplees.
It seems he changed his name around 1917 when he entered World War I draft
Popolizzo.
It’s pretty horrible how on every document the name is spelled differently
I’m assuming he has some siblings that we don’t know about
