Amerigo registered for the military on October 16, 1940, in New York City, New York. At the time, he was employed by Morris Schechter. During World War II, Amerigo Discenza served as a Private in the United States Army. He enlisted on March 17, 1941, in New York City and was part of the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA. Amerigo Discenza's military service began on March 17, 1941, and concluded on May 13, 1942. Amerigo married Venita May Discenza (1923–1986) on April 12, 1942 in Denver, Colorado, United States. The couple went on to have four sons together including Larry (1947-2017) and Danny Discenza (1953-2016).
