Destelhorst, Amy C. Amy C. Destelhorst, 35 of Cambridge, passed away at her home on Saturday April 21, 2007. She was born at Gambrills on September 21, 1971 and was a daughter of the late Robert Donald and Dorothy Helen Gibson Destelhorst, Sr. Amy attended schools in Millersville. She was married to Floyd Wade 14 years ago. She had worked in several local restaurants as a waitress. She passed away suddenly at her home on Saturday. Survivors include her husband Floyd Wade of Cambridge, two sons Jacob Wade, and Justin Wade of Cambridge, two sisters Susan D. Destelhorst of Cambridge and Bridget A. Perez of Plano, Texas, two brothers Robert D. Destelhorst, Jr., of Iraq and Bradley S. Destelhorst of New York and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday afternoon at 3:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home. P.A. in Cambridge. (04/25/07)

In 1971, in the year that Amy C Destelhorst was born, on May 3rd, 10,000 federal troops, 5,100 officers of the D.C. Metropolitan Police, 2,000 members of the D.C. National Guard, and federal agents assembled in Washington DC to prevent an estimated 10,000 Vietnam War protesters from marching. President Nixon (who was in California) refused to give federal employees the day off and they had to navigate the police and protesters, adding to the confusion. By the end of a few days of protest, 12,614 people had been arrested - making it the largest mass arrest in US history.

In 1980, at the age of merely 9 years old, Amy was alive when on December 8th, ex-Beatle John Lennon was shot and killed by Mark David Chapman in front of his home - the Dakota - in New York City. Chapman was found guilty of murder and still remains in jail.
