He had siblings Olivia Alice Beams, Madge Beams, Sheila Carol Beams, Elizabeth Ann Beams, Marjorie Alice Beams, William Earnest Beams, Ruth Gwendoline Beams, and Phyllis Ellen Beams. Andrew Beams married Lila Frances Sansom in 1922, and died at age 79 years old on July 31, 1975 in Mulgrave, City of Monash County.

In 1902, Andrew was only 6 years old when the world famous Italian tenor, Enrico Caruso, made the first gramophone recording by a popular singer. Accompanied by only a piano, his voice recordings became a big seller and did much to popularize the new-fangled gramophone. He had to sing into a metal "horn" that relayed his voice to a metal disc. And the songs had to be under 4 and a half minutes!
