Andrew became a Russian Orthodox priest, studying in Minneapolis MN. He took a position in Yonkers NY, where he met his future wife, a 16 YO choir member. The couple moved to a church in Pennsylvania, where they had two boys, Theodore and Eugene. The family was then transferred to Detroit MI, where they had a third child, Dorothy. Andrew attended the University of Detroit, obtaining a law degree. He practiced law in Inkster MI, eventually joined by his oldest son Ted. He remained a priest, holding services every Sunday.

Andrew’s ancestors were 100% Slavic, identifying as a Carpathian Rusyn. His family came from Zavala in what is now Slovakia. His parents came to the US shortly after the end of the Civil War, first to Pennsylvania, then to farm in Wisconsin.
