My Father
My life was made by Klara and Andy back in '65,
I was born into the world and glad to be alive.
My Dad worked hard to put a roof over our heads,
He put food in the fridge and warm blankets on the beds.
He loved to farm and grow our vegetables out back,
I'd follow behind and walk in his track.
I miss the days of youth which memories were made,
Like playing in the coops eating mulberries in the shade.
Holidays of Christmas gatherings at my uncle and aunts afar
Excitement, and eating, and the grown ups chewing the tar.
My Dad whose retirement was met unfair,
The day he was diagnosed with a fatal disease as he sat in his chair.
He lived to see me graduate and my boyfriend Joe as well,
Joe helped take care of Dad as he suffered his personal hell.
I thank you God for giving me the time I had with him,
I love the treasures I can reflect upon, may the light never go dim.
