Angelo Eugenio Colautti was the partriarch of his family in America and my father. He emigrated from the small village Orcenico Superiore, a frazione of the commune of Zoppola, in the province of Pordenone, region, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, Italia in 1921. He was the eldest son of Giuseppe and Maddalena Pasutti Colautti. His brothers were Luigi and Attilio. He traveled to America aboard the Genoese ship "Duca degli Abruzzi" with two friends from his village, and a cousin, Angelo Pasutti.. Papa told us he spent most of the time being seasick. He was 17 years old.

In 1903, in the year that Angelo Eugenio Colautti was born, the Ford Motor Company was incorporated in June after Henry Ford left another car company he founded in 1901 (which became the Cadillac Motor Company). He began Ford Motor Company with $28,000 in cash from twelve investors, two of whom (the Dodge brothers) later began their own car company. Henry Ford improved on assembly line techniques and has been so successful that his family still controls a very popular Ford line of cars and trucks.

In 1918, at the age of only 15 years old, Angelo was alive when in July, Russian revolutionaries executed the former Tzar Nicholas II and his immediate family. While it was rumored that two of the children had survived, it was later proven through DNA analysis - when their bodies were found - that the entire family had been killed.

In 1932, Angelo was 29 years old when on February 27th, actress Elizabeth Taylor was born in London. Her parents were Americans living in London and when she was 7, the family moved to Los Angeles. Her first small part in a movie was in There's One Born Every Minute in 1942 but her first starring role was in National Velvet in 1944. She became as famous for her 8 marriages (to 7 people) as she was for her beauty and films.

In 1980, Angelo was 77 years old when on December 8th, ex-Beatle John Lennon was shot and killed by Mark David Chapman in front of his home - the Dakota - in New York City. Chapman was found guilty of murder and still remains in jail.

In 1993, in the year of Angelo Eugenio Colautti's passing, on January 20th, William J. Clinton became the 42nd President of the United States. He beat incumbent George H.W. Bush who was seeking his second term. Clinton won 43.01% of the popular vote to Bush's 37.45%. An independent candidate, Ross Perot, won 18.91% - the most votes for an independent candidate since Teddy Roosevelt's run for President in 1912.
