    Anna Marie (Utter) Lynch, of Warrensburg, passed away August 5, 2011, to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born to George Wilbur and Elizabeth Caroline (Dolan) Utter in Kansas City, Kansas, on November 21, 1937. She married Carlos M. Lynch on May 17, 1957, in Blue Springs, Missouri. Anna was a devoted wife for 54 years and a loving mother to four children. Throughout her life she sold Avon Products and Home Interiors & Gifts. She was a dental assistant at Bel Air Professional Dentistry. She loved gardening. She was a member of Northside Christian Church, Warrensburg, Missouri. Anna was preceded in death by a son, Carl Gregory Lynch II; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth; and her parents. She is survived by her husband, Carlos; and daughters, Becky Ammon and her husband, Scott, of Chilhowee, Cathy Breuer and husband, James, of Bonner Springs, Kansas; and a son, Robert Lynch and wife, Kathryn, of Warrensburg; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Anna was a survivor of multiple sclerosis and inspired family and friends with how she didn't let it control her life. She loved babies and was Grandmother to many. We miss you, Anna, and cherish the time we shared with you. God bless you! Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City.

The last Japanese resistance on Okinawa was defeated. 4,907 Navy, 4,675 Army, and 2,938 Marine Corps personnel were killed in the battle on the US side. It is estimated that 110,071 on the Japanese side were killed - the estimate includes Okinawan citizens who were pressed into service and includes children. With the win of Okinawa, the United States gained an important base of operations in the Pacific.
