  • Introduction

    He immigrated to the United States in 1865, and married Martha Gohde (Goode/Gode/Gude) in 1871. They lived in Bronx, NY and had at least 8 children. My grandmother's cousin Warren Loeffler has a single picture of Anselm which is currently missing, but he recalls Anselm being a distinct looking man with a large mustache! Warren said Anselm was a well-known floor varnisher who made some of the most beautiful floors in New York City. My mother said that he was from Baden-Baden, and Baden in German means "bath."
