    Anthonette disappeared on April 6, 1986, from her home in Gallup, New Mexico. She was the daughter of Penny Cayedito, and had two sisters. Her parents had recently separated. It was alleged that Anthonette heard a knock at the door early in the morning and answered it, before the person at the door abducted her. A year after her disappearance, a 911 call was placed to authorities in which a young girl was verbally distressed, stated her name was Anthonette Cayedito, and that she was in Albuquerque. Before the operator could glean more details, an adult male could then be heard shouting “Who said you could use the phone?”, along with cries from the girl. The line then cut off. This call can be heard on an episode of Unsolved Mysteries dedicated to Anthonette’s case. About five years later, in Carson City, Nevada, when Anthonette would have been fourteen or fifteen years old, a waitress at a diner claimed that a girl of around the same age was eating with an unknown male and female. The girl would routinely drop her silverware as the waitress passed by, as if she were trying to get her attention, and would squeeze the waitress’ hand as the items were placed back on the table. Later, when the trio left the restaurant, the waitress found a note on their table exclaiming, “Help me. Call the police.” However, they were already gone by the time she found the message. Penny Cayedito at some point visited a Native American medicine woman for possible answers, and was told by the woman that Anthonette was alive, but couldn’t escape and may have had a child of her own. In 1999, Penny died due to health complications. However, she had told the FBI a few years prior that she had planned the disappearance with a friend, hoping he would find Anthonette a new life somewhere, though this information never lead anywhere. Anthonette Cayedito was nine years old at the time of her disappearance, and would be forty-eight as of 2024. Her whereabouts are still unknown, and she has been missing for nearly forty years.
