On August 17, 1942, he officially joined the Army Air Corps. He served as part of the Selectees (Enlisted Men) component. Anthony's military service lasted from August 17, 1942, until his discharge on December 16, 1945. He served during World War II in the US Army Air Forces. After his time in service, Anthony married Susan K Torgerson in January of 1969 in Willingboro Township, Burlington, New Jersey, USA.
