Ardell was my godmother and, although we weren't blood relatives, she was one of the closest people in the world to me during my childhood. She was the sweetest, kindest woman in the world and always called me her "little lump of love". She frequently babysat me and kept a cabinet full of toys in her apartment just for me. She loved giving big hugs, the color blue and her Marlboro cigarettes, which she chain smoked, but that was normal back then and I miss the smell of them on the sweatshirts she always wore. I miss her every day and wish I could've been there for her when she died.
